I built a large outdoor table to seat 10 people last year. This umbrella is ideal for this large area application. I was a bit skeptical at first because there were no images of it in the closed position. I was worried that it would be way to bulky when we didn’t want the umbrella open but that is not the case. I’m rather impressed on how compact the mechanism is. The lights are a nice feature and I really like the design/placement of the switch. I also wasn’t expecting it, but it came with a really nice storage bag for the off season. One thing to note, the post that goes through your table must be a 2” hole. When I received my umbrella one of the plastic parts for the base was cracked. This would have normally lead to a lower number of stars but the customer service was fantastic and sent a new part out immediately. My only real criticism of this product is that the crank mechanism feels weak. I mean to say that it feels like it is the exact same one used to open smaller umbrellas. Each time I crank it up I think to myself, is this going to break? It does have a nice pin to hold the weight when it’s up so the mechanism isn’t holding all the weight all the time, but I am 6’ tall and my wife who is 5’4” can not quite reach it.
This is a great umbrella! Assembly is straightforward following the included instruction sheet. A small wrench, included, is the only tool required. I was not aware I needed135lbs of sand - I’ll have to go back to that step later. The solar panels provide energy for the LED lights - nice ambiance. Penne g and closing is via a crank handle and is easy to do. Be sure to put in the locking pin once it’s opened all the way! Finish looks powder coated and is very nice. Fabric color was true to the website. Overall, I’m very pleased with this umbrella.
